Following a digital release in February 2009, the Chicago by way of North Carolina transplant IJ Quinn will release his debut LP When They Want It The Most this Tuesday, April 28th in physical format courtesy of MODEL Recordings.
The record was produced by former Dovetail Joint singer/guitarist Chuck Gladfelter in the winter of 2008 at EQHQ Studios in Chicago.
When They Want It The Most contains thirteen (13) brilliantly crafted, original pop songs inspired by both the R&B / Soul greats IJ grew up listening to (Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, EW&F, Michael Jackson), and the leading commercial songwriters of today (Jason Mraz, John Mayer, One Republic).
The title track was recently featured on an episode of NBC’s critically acclaimed drama Friday Night Lights.
To celebrate the launch of the album, IJ Quinn will perform When They Want It The Most in it’s entirety (from start to finish) on Saturday, April 25th at Schubas Tavern. Accompanying IJ on-stage will be an eight-piece ensemble comprised of members from Bumpus, The Year After, and album producer Chuck Gladfelter. Local singer-songwriter Sarah VonderHaar will open.
